I found the coolest red polka dot bowls at a church yard sale for $4.00 for the set. They are Fire King Ovenware from the 40’s or 50’s. Research shows there were 4 bowls in the set, I got 3. I love the polka dots! These are headed to my booth for sale. Aren’t they the cutest! I was inspired to join this party by Jocelyn at Just a Little Southern Hospitality after seeing her Pyrex bowls. Thanks blogging sister with the same name!
The bowls are sitting on a Lane Cedar Chest that at the moment is outside airing out. It smelled of moth balls so bad I almost got sick when I opened it! I bought this at a different yard sale last weekend. It was open when I found it and I didn’t notice the smell. It has since been closed up in my living room. I think it was good deal, $30.00. What do you think? I want to paint it white and shabby it up. My dh thinks I should leave it as is (minus the smell).
I’m joining to fun parties Would you buy it Wednesday? and The Colorado Lady’s Vintage Thingie Thursday. Come with me, let’s have some fun!

I love those bowls and would have bought them in a heartbeat! I love the cedar chest and think you should do with it what you want too!!
If you do an thing to the cedar chest it will take away the vintage stage. It should be left as is except for the smell.
LOVE the polka dot bowls!! I bought a set of 2 just like it a year ago, so YES i'd have bought it! In fact, I'm jealous you got all three! 🙂
Love these sweet bowls!!
They would look great in my kitchen!! LOL!!
Hugs,
Debbie
Oh my gosh! I can't believe you got those for $4!!! I love those polkadot bowls! I have seen them in blues and greens too (my favorite colors) and they always cost an arm and a leg at the antique stores.
Oh my, I would die for this set! I have just the one, but would love more. I don't know if you realize, but they are quite pricey. What a deal you got!! I had to hop over and see when I spied this at the bottom of your blog post. Lucky you! I bet they sold quickly.
hugs,
Jann
