Distractions

I have been struggling to write something meaningful lately.  There are so many things that pull me away from my keyboard.  Simple things.   Like the dogs need to go outside or I’m suddenly thirsty.  And also, not-so-simple things; like needing to pick up a sick kid from school or my

Growing closer to God in troubling times

We are living in crazy times.   As I read the news, I am just appalled at what I am hearing.  The shootings, corruption, illegal drugs, and crimes against children are all too much to bear.  I’m sure you are seeing and hearing the same things.  There is only one place

Who are you looking for?

Read John 20:1 – 19 “Dear Woman, why are you crying?” Jesus asked her.  “Who are you looking for?”  John 20:15 NLT Early on the first day of the week, the third day after the crucifixion Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of Jesus, and Salome took it upon themselves to

Love One Another

Remember that day when you gave your life to Christ?  Think back on it.  What were the circumstances?  What was going on in your life at the time you called out to him?  We must remember where we come from.  Not to say we should dwell in our past, but

God Can Use You

Honestly, I sometimes get tired of having people over.  What I want is to lay around on the couch and play games on my phone. My flesh wants to let the dust bunnies grow in the corners and leave the kid’s fingerprints on the glass door. But once a week,

Doing our part

Doing Our Part I left my last post feeling as if I was making holiness a light thing, I assure you I was not.  Rather, I  was showing how God wants us to come to Him the way we are so that He can complete the work He started in

Holiness is not a straitjacket

It is actually the opposite of one!  It sets you free!  Free from a life of addictions, bitterness, and regret.  Many think that living a life of Holiness is one that confines you to living under vows of poverty, chastity, and submission. Before I accepted Jesus as my savior, I

How to Arise in your prayer life

This morning as I set out to pray and write, I came across some of the following points on social media of all places!   Yes, I was obviously distracted.  Getting on social media while I was setting up for prayer.  Just like the enemy me to bring distraction!  Sometimes I

A Prayer of Surrender

Lord, I lay it all down.  As I’m sitting in my office, in the middle of piles of stuff and junk, my head hung down in a posture of resignation, I prayed quietly; Lord I give all of my worries to you.  Not that I think you would want them,

He will lead you through

I couldn’t see through the windshield.  The rain was coming down so hard I thought the glass might break.  The road ahead was a blur and fear gripped me. The semi-trucks rolling past were just throwing more water into the path and rocking our vehicle.  Cars around us were moving

Hi I'm Jo!

Welcome to my blog!  I write about my own experiences in my walk with Jesus.    I am saved by the grace of God and filled with the Holy Spirit.  I sit in the seat next to you at church.  Praising, worshipping and learning right by your side.   If I am not in the service, I most likely can be found cooking up something in the church kitchen.   I hope you’ll join me by signing up to get notified of future posts, the occasional recipe and other inspiring words.  Faithfully ~ Jo

More important than subscribing to this blog is to have a personal relationship with God.   Without it, reading all of this is for nothing.  The way to have a personal relationship with God is through Jesus, His son.  All we have to do is ask him to come into our hearts and lives and it can be done by saying this prayer:

Dear God, I realize I am a sinner and could never reach heaven on my own.  I need a savior.   Right now, I place my faith in Jesus Christ who lived, died and rose again to give me eternal life with you.  Please forgive me of my sins and help me to live for you.  Thank you for accepting me and writing my name in the lamb’s book of life.
